Welcome to Resident Evil: Core, a Resident Evil roleplay site which takes the materials provided by the RE universe and uses them for text based roleplaying. The forum universe is similar to the universe that hosts the Resident Evil series, using modern levels of technology with bits of higher level tech for biological warfare and firearms. Before you delve into the forum you will need to acquaint yourself with a few general rules:
(
Note: We'll be using a lot of links for this walk-through of the site so please familiarize yourself with your computer and browser capabilities. Most browser allow you to right-click and bring up a miniature window with an 'Open Link In New Tab' feature. You probably don't want to have reload back and forth, so make good use of this button.)
Behavioral RulesWith those out of the way, assuming you've read and understood what is expected of you on the forum, you are now ready to make yourself a part of the forum community. Of course, this is the all important decision, what kind of character do you intend to create? Maybe you have no idea, maybe you have a definite idea, either way you may want to look into what each faction is and what they specialize in.
Faction Guide- Spoiler:
Other factions exist, excluding the base three, but are currently closed for joining on the site until acitivity warrants their opening. They are occupied by NPC characters and thus exist in the forum-verse, they simply aren't open for PC's to join.
Faction: Government Agent
Faction: Tricell
Faction: The Organization
These are the base factions that exist within the forum, though individual groups are able to assemble themselves and create new factions to join. In such a case, they will be added with similar details as the above three, though the rulings for such a thing are not appropriate for this topic. Now that you're familiar with the factions, you may want to take a look at the character template and see whats in store for you.
Character TemplateAlot of the provided information in the template probably makes no sense at all to you, so now would be a good time to bring up the site's systems. The site makes use of an Stat, Skill, and Specialty system that enables each character to individualize themselves. The three 'S's are accompanied by the Battle System. Naturally, you'll need to understand all of these things before you can actually fill out the character template.
Guide: StatsGuide: Action PointsGuide: SkillsGuide: Knowledge SkillsWith this new knowledge in hand you're probably even further confused. All of this is very complicated and it hardly makes sense to a new comer, so I'd suggest re-reading the topics above until you have some grasp of whats going on. If you got that with your first reading, that works too. You know how the system works, and how the factions interact, so now you're ready to understand how this all fits into your character. You may have noticed references to level and to missions, so those will be covered next.
Guide: LevelsGuide: MissionsAnd that takes us to our final two steps, understanding how to equip your character (in addition to wear to find the equipment) and the money system, and how to fill out your character thread. In order to equip your character you'll need to know about how money works, the first link, what you can spend it on, the second link, and finally the reintroduction of the character template where everything should come together.
